David's Hope
 David’s Hope is an advocacy & education training program designed to provide people with mental illness and their caregivers with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the behavioral health care system.
David’s Hope teaches people how to advocate for themselves and/or their loved ones by empowering them with information, training, resources and mentoring. Families, caregivers, and community members will have access to a network of provider information and available services in the community’s behavioral health care system.
The Beginning of a Dream
The dream of David’s Hope came alive when two mothers, desperate to find help and not knowing where to turn found wisdom and direction at Mental Health America of Arizona (MHAAZ).
David’s Hope is named for the shared first name of two sons and the hope their mothers found in each other and with MHAAZ. The staff at MHAAZ taught these mothers the skills needed to advocate for the needs of their loved ones. This bond of support and friendship became a fortress of strength and the catalyst to build a coalition.
Now this coalition seeks to bring hope to others in need through the mentoring and support provided by its members.
The goal of David’s Hope is to build a strong advocacy community empowered by knowledge and to bring meaningful improvement to the lives of those affected by mental health issues.
