Community Education & Outreach
Knowledge breeds understanding.
The community education program works to dispel myths and break the stigma surrounding mental illness. MHA does this by communicating to the public that mental illnesses are real, diagnosable, and treatable. Through education, Arizonans will learn how to foster and maintain their mental health, learn the prevalence of mental illness, recognize symptoms, and identify resources for help.
We strive to educate about:
- Depression and bipolar disorder
- Anxiety disorders such as phobias, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder
- Schizophrenia
- Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia
- Co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse problems
- Suicide prevention
Learn more about depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and schizophrenia by selecting Signs & Symptoms.
